We will exhibit for the first time at “Yokohama Handmade Marche”, a large-scale handmade event in Yokohama! We will be exhibiting at the Yokohama Handmade Marché, a large-scale handmade event in Yokohama.
We are working on the challenge to revive the Amami indigo dyeing culture, from indigo field cultivation to dyeing, which is being lost.
Since ancient times, indigo dyeing has been practiced in Amami, using indigo that grows wild in the mountains, and was reportedly worn by women who presided over Shinto rituals.
All of the pieces, which are hand-dyed with natural Ryukyu indigo, are one-of-a-kind pieces created by nature.
This time, silk scarves like feathers and one-piece dresses expressing the beauty of the Amami sea will be hand-dyed with natural Ryukyu indigo, exposed to wind and water, and finished, one by one, before being delivered.
We are also working hard to unveil new works!
We moved from the city to Kakeroma Island, a remote island in Amami Prefecture, and became fascinated with indigo dyeing, which we encountered on the island.
