Amami indigo fields have grown up to here!
It’s been a year since we started growing Amami Ryukyu indigo, and it’s grown so far!
The field was cultivated in 2021, starting with mowing, digging up the soil, making ridges, putting up mulch, staking and shading nets, etc. The field was completed with the help of many people.
Thanks to the kindness and help of the people of Okinawa, we took cuttings in December, took more cuttings from the indigo that had grown in June 2022, and took more cuttings from the indigo that had grown in June 2022, and then, one year later, in December 2022, we were frightened by a typhoon.
Further cuttings will be taken and in 2023, we plan to try our first attempt at producing muddy indigo.
