奄美大島群島の一つ加計呂麻島(カケロマジマ)で失われつつある「奄美の藍」を栽培から染色まで実現する挑戦を住民有志で取り組んでいます。

天然の藍染めのしごとは、染めに至るまでが9割といわれ、畑の開墾、苗を育て、藍畑を作り、さらに藍の苗を増やし、泥藍製造、灰汁抜き、建てを経て、ようやく染色工程となります。
It is said that 90% of the work of natural indigo dyeing is dyed, and it is finally dyed after clearing the field, growing seedlings, creating an indigo field, increasing the number of indigo seedlings, producing mud indigo, removing lye, and building. It will be a process.
